This is the ultimate ornithologist’s paradise with over 450 species of birds. Apart from its thousands and sometimes millions of flamingos nesting along the shores, the surface of the shallow lake is often hard to recognize due to the continually shifting mass of pink. The number of flamingos on the lake varies with water and food conditions and the best vantage point is from Baboon Cliff. Dinner and your overnight stay are at the lodge.

The reserve is well known for its black-manned lions, as well as its abundant resident wildlife. It’s one of the few places where it's possible to see the Big Five during a morning game drive. Many of the cheetahs are so tame that they seek shelter from the hot sun under one's vehicle and several even climb onto the roof to get a better view of prospective prey. The Mara River is the gateway of the annual migration of wildebeest from Serengeti to Masai Mara. This great spectacle features the pounding of over 6 million hooves from the vast Serengeti plains to the champagne colored hills of Kenya’s Masai Mara where over 1 million wildebeest, 300,000 gazelle, and some 200,000 zebra relentlessly tracked by Africa’s greatest predators, migrate in a clockwise fashion over 1,800 miles each year.
